Chosen Generation - 1 Peter 2:13-25

Last Sunday, we continued our sermon series, Chosen Generation, by studying 1 Peter 2:13–25, which teaches us how to live a godly life in a pagan society.

We explored what it means to submit to governing authorities and to those in positions of authority over us, and what that looks like in practical, everyday life. We also reflected on the gift of free will. As believers, we have the freedom to choose how we respond, and Peter encourages us to use that freedom to do good and to live in a way that honours God.

As we came to the end of the chapter, we saw that Peter points us to the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross as the foundation for this way of living. Jesus bore our sins so that we might die to sin and live righteously. It is through His sacrifice that we are empowered to live the life God has called us to.

Finally, we looked at Jesus as our ultimate example. When He faced hostility, insults, and suffering, He did not retaliate or fight back. Instead, He entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly—God the Father. In doing so, He showed us what it means to respond with humility, trust, and obedience, even in the face of injustice.
