Marriage - The Power of Marriage

Paul instructs us in Eph 5:21 to “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ”.  

Submission has to do with our heart attitude more than fulfilling a gender role. Submission means putting others before yourself; considering and counting the interests of others more important than your own. 

Self-centredness is the ever-present enemy of any marriage. Therefore each spouse should take responsibility for their own life in this matter. We can only live selfless lives with the help and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. We submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. The fear of the Lord has nothing to do with feeling scared but it has more to do with relationship - standing in awe and wonder at our wonderful Lord and Saviour for all that He has done.
