Restored to Wholeness - The God Who Adopts
Last week we looked at the God who adopts. In his letter to the Romans, Paul writes: “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” (Romans 8:15). Paul made sure that we all know that the gospel is not just salvation from darkness and slavery but that it is also adoption into Gods family.
Adoption is not just a legal process of providing a roof above someone’s head and food on the table. It is also the journey of reaching into the child’s soul, making sure they feel secure and have a sense of belonging. This is mostly the father’s job and happens through different stages of the child’s development.
When this doesn’t happen, we feel like we don’t belong and are alone. God desires to restore us to wholeness, so that we can know Him and call upon Him as Abba, Father.
