Made To Belong - Knowing Yourself, Finding Belonging

Belonging is more than just being part of a group; it’s a spiritual practice that involves both connection with others and the courage to stand alone. True belonging, as defined by Brene Brown, means finding sacredness in being part of something while also having the bravery to stand independently.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of relationships, such as in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, showing that we are made to belong to others. However, true belonging requires self-awareness and self-love. To be authentic, we must know our passions, values, and strengths, and connect with God, who gave us our purpose.

Jesus’ command to love oneself in Matthew 22:37-39 highlights the importance of self-love for authentic relationships. When we understand our worth, we can belong to God, ourselves, and others without fear of rejection. Belonging involves balancing connection, standing firm in one’s identity, and fostering mature, authentic relationships.
