A Lifestyle of Prayer: Walking Daily With God

Prayer is a fundamental aspect of Christian life, serving as a direct communication with the One who created life. The Scripture consistently reflects this as an intimate fellowship with the Almighty inviting hearts to draw near. This continual posture highlights that prayer is not merely a formal event, it is an ongoing conversation flowing out of a relationship.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 NIV, pray continually, reminds us of what it means to be in a persistent and continuous action of prayer. Praying continuously means being in a constant awareness of the presence of God and the readiness to communicate with Him throughout the day. Prayer should come naturally, like breathing, even without thinking.

Here are some of the practical steps on how we can make prayer not just habit but as a lifestyle:

•Set a regular time for prayer (Mark 1:35)

•Pray throughout the day (Psalm 55:17)

•Develop a heart of dependence on God (Proverbs 3:5-6)

•Use a scripture in prayer (Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119:105)

•Pray with others (Matthew 18:19-20)

•Eliminate distractions (Matthew 6:6)

Jesus Himself showed us a good example of having a lifestyle of prayer by waking up very early in the morning, going to solitary places and pray. In Hebrews 7:24-25, the Scripture emphasizes that even for more than 2000 years, Jesus has been interceding for us on the right hand of the Father. If Jesus prays, why can’t we?
